AUDITIONING FOR UNCOMMON CHORD
Candidates for Uncommon Chord must have past experience singing in tight harmony and advanced level vocal groups in order to schedule an audition. Our concerts are usually 50% a capella and 50% accompanied. The group rehearses every Monday evening, on the upper west side of Manhattan. We schedule a minimum of 2 concerts a year, one in December and one in May. Members receive music and MIDI files in which to learn the music. We recommend software tools to assist with the MIDI files based upon your computer platform. Repertoire for concerts is performed memorized.
The group is self-funded, meaning the members contribute a small amount each week to sustain the ensemble. Members are non-professional vocalists who perform at a professional level. Interested candidates should be willing to invest a portion of time each week preparing for rehearsals and concert repertoire.
Openings are posted on this page. Currently we are looking to fill an alto and soprano 1 chair, however if you are interested in singing with the group please feel free to inquire about your prospects for an audition. A preliminary audition form may be downloaded here:
